Description
Nestled in the remote village of El Diamante in San José de Lourdes, three coffee-growing families are cultivating exceptional coffees on small, one-hectare farms. The region’s unique microclimate, cooler temperatures and higher rainfall, creates a distinctive cup profile, with bright citrus notes and buttery smoothness. The predominant variety is Caturra, which thrives in these conditions, setting this coffee apart from nearby regions like Jaén.
However, the isolation of San José de Lourdes presents significant challenges. Far from the city of Jaén, the area is only accessible by boat, making transportation difficult. As a result, many farmers sell their coffee locally at low prices, limiting their ability to reinvest in their farms. We are thrilled to offer this beautiful lot.
